What’s best for you? Taking a closer look at the Les Mills Group Fitness Classes
The Group Fitness programming at OCSC offers a wide variety of classes for people who are looking to get their fitness fix alongside other enthusiasts with an instructor ready to lead and motivate them. We offer over 40 classes weekly with a wide variety so there truly is something for everyone. There are: Cycling classes for those who love to bike. Yoga classes for those who want some mind body balance. Zumba® classes for those who are looking to dance their way to fitness.
…and there are 13 different Les Mills™ Group Fitness Classes sprinkled throughout the week. We thought we would take a brief look at the Les Mills Programming as well as a close up peek at the three types of Les Mills classes we offer here at OCSC; BODYPUMP™, BODYCOMBAT™ & CXWORX™.
All Les Mills
Les Mills is a New Zealand born fitness company that was named for 4 time Olympian Les Mills. It is currently the world’s largest provider of choreographed exercise to music fitness classes (as per Wikipedia). Its first class PUMP was developed in 1990 for use in the founder Phillip Mills’ father’s gym club chain. It was released internationally in 1997 and has grown beyond PUMP to provide a variety of programming to fitness centers around the world.
1 – BODYPUMP
Offers you a way to get lean and tone muscle, FAST. Light to moderate weights are put to use through the revolutionary Smartbar™ giving all your major muscle groups a workout in the span of 60 minutes. The music is awesome, the work out is intense and that combination offers a burn of up to 590 calories! If you are looking to get fit but need encouragement + great music to get there, BODYPUMP may be the class for you! Classes for the month of May include: Monday from 6-7pm, Tuesday from 8:30-9:30am, Wednesday from 6-7pm, Thursday from 9:30-10:30am, Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30am and Sunday from 8:30-9:30am.
2 – BODYCOMBAT
Asks you to Release your Inner Warrior as you take part in this high energy martial arts inspired class. Every muscle group is worked as you kick and punch your way to fun (no contact required J). If you are looking to reduce some stress and empower yourself, we encourage you to give BODYCOMBAT a try. Classes for the month of May include: Tuesday from 7-8pm, Wednesday from 8:30-9:30am, Thursday from 7-8pm and Friday from 9:30-10:30am.
3 – CXWORX
Gives you a concentrated 30 minute workout focusing on your core. CXWORK offers you a stronger body which gives you a stronger you! Through the use of resistance tubes, weight plates and your own body weight, your abs get the workout they need to give you a strong core that helps you achieve your fitness goals. Your hips, butt and lower back will also get a workout. If your time is limited and you are looking to tone up the all important core muscle group, CXWORK could be the perfect class for you! Classes for the month of May include: Monday from 7-7:30pm, Wednesday from 7-7:30pm and Sunday from 9:30-10am.
