Can we talk about Spring? As we count down to Memorial Day in hair salons and coffee shops, people are initiating the topic, “What are you doing to get your body SWIMSUIT READY??”

Try not to panic.  Let’s take a minute to discuss a few habits that’ll help you feel better, now, and with a little focus, we’ll have you looking better in no time!

Tip #1 – Set a long-term goal

Think big. For example, think about your life expectancy. According to statista.com, the current average life expectancy in North America is 79 years for males and 81 years for females. How does that work for you? Do you want to push that statistic?  If the answer is yes, start now and make a plan to do it.

Tip #2 – Book a physical

Now that you have a long-term goal, it may be a good idea to make an appointment with your family doctor and share ital. Check your numbers. Talk about injuries or conditions. Then form a strategy to overcome any obstacles and make a vow to follow through!

Tip #3 – Call your trainer (hint – 845-651-1000)

OCSC is serious about your health. Our personal trainers are trained to help you with your strategy and achieve your goals. Let’s take the steps necessary to get you there, together!

Tip #4 – Drink more water

We’ve been told we need at least 64 ounces a day or we’ve been taught some complicated formula of our weight in pounds converted to ounces and divided in half…… but for now, forget all that. Here’s what you can do instead: drink more today than you did yesterday. Drink more tomorrow than you did today. And so on. When you eventually get to 64 ounces a day, evaluate how you feel, and decide if you should keep increasing or stay at 64.

Tip #5 – Ditch the All-Or-Nothing mindset

For some reason, we have the idea that we have to be perfect and completely committed at all times but honestly, that just doesn’t work for most of us. If we can’t keep the action up, we quit. That isn’t going to serve you. So, make a pact to abandon that trend! Take it one day at a time.  Each day, do your best and then wake up the next morning and do it again.

BONUS Tip – Speak kindly to & about yourself, then make it a habit.

It may be hokey. Go ahead and laugh, but then do it. Take a moment and greet yourself with some love. When you find that you are being hard on yourself, for every negative thought, replace it with a positive one. Do everything in your power to make this a routine.
