How to Fit Your Workout Into Your Schedule - Words of Wisdom For Busy Moms

09/25/2018

Every mom who has kids at home is a busy mom.  You want to make sure your kids, job, and home are taken care of and you want to get (and stay) in shape but still, the question remains:

How do you find time to work out?

The answer is simple, but it isn’t easy.

Mom must prioritize herself.

There are two types of moms: The Frontloader and The Backloader. The Frontloader is the organized mom who has a schedule, a game plan, a backup plan, lists, procedures, and her day runs pretty easily because she puts in the effort UP FRONT. The Backloader is more chill - she deals with issues as they come up, puts out the most critical fires first, cleans up messes when the company is on the way and fits the big items in order of importance.

On the surface they appear very different, however, the one thing they have in COMMON is that they PRIORITIZE.

The illustration of the flight attendant putting her oxygen mask on first is trite, but it’s trite because it’s true. We can’t do anything for anyone if we aren’t well. Running ourselves ragged isn’t practical or sustainable.

Giving ourselves priority is NOT selfish, it’s CRUCIAL.

So how do we prioritize ourselves and fit that workout in?
We treat ourselves as if we’re every bit as important as our children, our partners, and our jobs. That means you SCHEDULE your workout. You BUDGET your gym membership.  You put your oxygen mask on first so you can care for those who need you.

Momming is hard work. It’s the most important task you have. Be ready. Be worthy. Be healthy.

We all KNOW the benefits of exercise, but we also need reminding. Consistent exercise produces endorphins, which enhance our mood, and our mental health. Aerobic exercise strengthens our hearts, lungs, aids our digestion and circulation. Weight training strengthens our bones and lengthens our lives.

Exercise makes us feel better and look better, and when we look better we feel better. It’s a circle of positivity!
